Help KAI restore the world's waterways

Oberker: a living aquatic adventure with room to grow

Oberker is a premium aquatic adventure built around a simple promise:

Eat. Grow. Evolve. Restore the water.

Players guide Kai a customizable aquatic creature, through distinct waterways, growing through local food webs, outsmarting predators, discovering secrets, and restoring each ecosystem.

Big world. Small footprint.

Oberker combines programmed gameplay with procedural and vector artwork rather than relying on a large library of pre-rendered images. This helps us deliver six distinct authored worlds through a shared native Apple game foundation—and makes a substantial playable App Clip practical.

Proof point: The Fully playable Pacific Reef Six level App Clip only has 4.72 MB downloadable/ 5.54 MB installed for the current processed build.

For a commercial partner, this creates a compact, hands-on trial for QR-led campaigns, events, and physical venues. Looking further ahead, we could explore tailored App Clip experiences with aquariums and ocean centers around the world—connecting a visitor’s real-world encounter with a waterway or species to a playable Oberker introduction. These are potential promotional partnerships, not existing agreements or completed experiences.

The Opportunity

What a partner gains

Oberker offers a partner a substantial, already-developed Apple-first game to bring to market—not a concept waiting to be built. With six base-built worlds, 72 authored sublevels, and an iOS App Clip trial currently in testing and launch refinement, a partner can help shape how this distinctive aquatic experience reaches players, lead its marketing and distribution, and participate in the upside of its growth under terms we negotiate together. You would enter while launch strategy is still being formed, alongside a hands-on founder who continues to develop the product.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a publishing or commercialization partner whose central mission is to help Oberker reach players and sell successfully. We want you to lead and fund a meaningful marketing effort—launch planning, audience positioning, storefront strategy, creative campaigns, press and creator outreach, platform relationships, distribution expertise, and performance-informed iteration—while also providing independent product review and QA recommendations.

How we could work together

Oberker is self-funded, and the founder intends to retain the IP and lead development; commercialization is the primary reason to partner. We are open to discussing a development advance that could accelerate future work if the overall terms make sense, but funding is not a prerequisite for the conversation.

Conservation commitment
Conservation commitment

Oberker is committed to directing part of its own game proceeds toward ocean and waterway conservation. We would welcome a partner who wants to support that mission alongside us, but their contribution is not a condition of working together. We’ll share the nonprofit and contribution details once finalized.

Intro

Kai is the small aquatic protagonist at the heart of Oberker. Players guide their fish through each waterway, learning its food web, avoiding predators, and growing into forms adapted to that environment.

Grow and evolve

Kai’s evolution is part of the gameplay. Feeding drives growth, and each world has its own sequence of locally adapted forms. As Kai changes size and form, players must reconsider which creatures are food, which are threats, and which routes are safe.

Make Kai yours

Players can personalize their fish’s name, color palette, and keepsake in the Appearance screen. Kai remains recognizable while giving each player a fish that feels like their own.

A fish for each player

On iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, one device can hold up to eight local fish profiles. Each keeps its own appearance, campaign progress, discoveries, and learning choices. Players select their fish from the Kai control on the World Map; no online account is needed.

Meet Kai.

Six worlds. Six ecosystems.
One evolving journey.

Each of Oberker’s six base-built worlds contains 12 authored sublevels. These habitats attempt to mimic their real world wildlife counterparts by creating routes, hazards, and local mechanics that make the user experience interesting.

Pacific Reef

Pacific Reef begins in sheltered coral nurseries and opens into currents, reef passages, and predator territory. Kai feeds among small reef fish, grows into new forms, and learns to read safe routes through a world of coral, anemones, rays, morays, and reef sharks.

Real-world habitat

Oberker gameplay

Lake Michigan

This freshwater world moves from harbor shallows and piers through wreck passages into colder open water. Storm chop, thermoclines, invasive-life pressure, and intake currents change how Kai navigates. Shiners, perch, trout, pike, and sturgeon give the lake its distinct character.

Real-world habitat

Oberker gameplay

Amazon River

Flooded roots, leaf mats, and murky channels make the Amazon a world of changing routes and limited visibility. Kai navigates electric slowdowns, piranha pressure, and larger river predators while discovering the varied life of the floodplain.

Real-world habitat

Oberker gameplay

Sundarbans Mangrove Mudflats

At the meeting of river and sea, tides reshape mangrove channels and expose mudflats. Kai must time short excursions, find safe returns to water, and watch for bird and crocodile threats amid crabs, mudskippers, and archerfish.

Real-world habitat

Oberker gameplay

California Kelp Forest

The California Kelp Forest turns navigation vertical. Kai moves among kelp canopies and holdfasts, using cover and timing surges to pass urchin barrens, nets, and predator lanes. The towering habitat creates a different sense of scale and movement.

Real-world habitat

Oberker gameplay

Mariana Trench

The final world descends through darkness, sparse food, pressure gates, and vent pulses. Bioluminescent cues help Kai navigate angler lures and siphonophores, while deep-sea life gives the trench its distinctive atmosphere and intended difficulty peak.

Real-world habitat photographs are included for ecological context; they are not images from the game. Images labeled ‘Oberker gameplay’ are captured from Oberker.

All six worlds are base-built. We are now testing and refining dynamics, pacing, onboarding, accessibility, and platform-specific play before launch.

STATE OF THE GAME Today

Oberker’s self-funded Apple MVP is base-built for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, with six authored waterways and 72 sublevels. It includes local progression, mastery, secrets, Field Guide discoveries, replay, and a six-sublevel Pacific Reef App Clip. It is in testing and refinement—not publicly released or certified launch-ready.

Development Roadmap

Apple Launch Strategic Prep

During our Apple MVP launch preparation, we are focused on polishing the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV interfaces while deep-diving into accessibility, localization, performance, and refined audio. Our team is perfecting device behavior and iconography alongside completing TestFlight and Store-delivery readiness.

Beyond the technical scope, we are finalising all approved website content, privacy and support structures, trailers, and press-kit materials for the Store. Please note that private iCloud recovery and privacy-first product insights remain planned work, subject to their own upcoming reviews.

Game Perfection

Our current focus centers on testing and tuning every world’s passability, difficulty, and pacing to ensure an optimal new-player learning curve. We are meticulously refining hidden secrets, the Field Guide, authored finales, and the full-campaign ending while finalizing Siri Remote play and comprehensive controller-family support. Throughout this process, the authored solo game remains our absolute priority.

The gameplay experience is being elevated through rigorous balance passes that ensure every aquatic environment feels rewarding and intuitive for solo players. By integrating sophisticated input methods and polishing the narrative conclusion, we are solidifying the core journey of growth and restoration.

Engagement without pressure

We are prioritizing durable XP and clear progression feedback alongside Kai appearance showcases and improved App Clip promotion. This strategy integrates achievements, ethical quests, and earned non-power cosmetics while maintaining a compact Watch game with its own separate progression system. The experience remains entirely free from energy timers, punitive streaks, or required online participation.

Secure Social Growth

We are expanding our social ecosystem by enhancing fish-centered sharing capabilities and secure QR/HTTPS links for seamless interaction. Our primary focus is establishing native family safeguards and a portable service as foundational layers prior to introducing private friend connections or verified challenges. In later phases, we will introduce cooperative quests and cross-platform leagues, ensuring all social features remain strictly optional and protect our youngest users by never creating public child profiles.

Marketing and Distribution Strategy

Our growth focus centers on expanding approved official channels and developing comprehensive press and creator materials alongside App Clip acquisition opportunities. We are pursuing carefully scoped brand or institutional activations and researching gifting across storefronts. Potential opportunities to explore include aquariums, educators, museums, and conservation groups, though these do not currently represent signed partnerships.

Future Horizons and Platform Growth

Our vision includes investigating fresh authored waterways and developing lightweight vector and procedural assets alongside portable gameplay contracts to ensure scalability. We will validate a focused Android and Windows proof of concept before committing to full editions, while carefully distinguishing our separate, compact Apple Watch product and eventual Wear OS path from the primary large-format Apple ecosystem purchase. Additionally, we are evaluating Godot as a reversible technical experiment for potential cross-platform efficiency rather than a definitive engine migration.
